Loss In Weight

Loss In Weight Introduction

Loss-in-weight feeding systems are used to accurately control the flow of materials in various industries, The system consists of a hopper, a Screw dosing unit and load cells. The hopper holds the material to be dosed, and the load cells measure the weight of the hopper and its contents. As the material is fed through the dosing unit, the weight of the hopper decreases. The load cells continuously monitor this weight loss. The system’s controller adjusts the speed of the dosing unit to match the desired feed rate. This ensures a consistent flow of material. The controller uses the data from the load cells to make real-time adjustments, maintaining the setpoint for the feed rate.
The system can operate in two modes:
Gravimetric Mode: When the hopper is not being refilled, the system measures the weight loss over time to control the feed rate.
Volumetric Mode: When the hopper is being refilled, the system controls the feed rate based on the volume of material being ejected.
